Samba, Jan 4: Chairman Block Development Council Ghagwal Vijay Tagotra took a review of Apni Mandi Tapyal Samba in his office chambers. Apart from local Sarpanches, Panches and farmers/ orchardists of Samba district, the meeting was attended by the Area Marketing Officer Jammu-Samba-Kathua Priya Parihar, Assistant Grading & Marketing Samba Anuj Kumar Verma, HDO Ghagwal, AEO Ghagwal, AEO Rajpura and representatives from other departments.
Vijay Tagotra appreciated efforts being put in by the department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing in providing a state-of-art facility to farmers of Ghagwal, Rajpura and other areas of Samba district for selling their produce directly to the consumers.
In order to achieve the GoI mission for doubling farmers' income by 2022, it is imperative to minimize role of middle-men, who generally eat up most of the profits of small and marginal farmers. Vijay Tagotra exhorted upon the officers of Agriculture, Horticulture, SRLM, Handicraft departments to organize more number of awareness camps for farmers / growers at their doorsteps so as to make them aware about latest agricultural marketing and Post-Harvest Management practices. The issues of construction of a Toilet Complex at Apni Mandi Tapyal, a small shed adjoining boundary wall of Apni Mandi Tapyal, stoppage of matadors, providing of solar light system at Apni Mandi Tapyal were discussed in the meeting. |
