Jammu, Jan 17: It seems that the doctors at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Mendhar have allegedly forgotten their professional ethics as they are reportedly prescribing low branded and costly medicines to gullible patients visiting hospital.
While talking to Early Times, some patients alleged that few doctors in the SDH Mendhar have been allegedly fleecing penitents by writing long list of medicines on prescription lists putting extra burden on their pockets.
“I had been suffering from fever due to which I visited hospital and doctor after examining me wrote medicines on prescription lists. In order to purchase medicines when I went to nearby pharmacy shop outside hospital, I was shocked to see the bill, which was over Rs 1,000. I am totally failed to understand that how medicines for fever can be so costly,” alleged Rohit Kumar.
Other patients alleged that un-necessary medicines are being written by the doctors allegedly just for the sake of high commissions. “Number of blood tests, radiology tests are written on the prescription list which are usually not available in the hospital and the medicines, which are prescribed by doctors generally cost over Rs 1000-1500 to most of the patients,” said Salaamdin Choudhary and Mohammad Ashfaq.
They alleged that the General Surgeon in SDH Mendhar treats the patients very rudely and he also prescribed them unknown companies’ medicines, which are very costly and available in few shops only. Patients hailing from Mendhar, Balakote, Mankote suffer a lot.
The concerned BMO SDH Mendhar Dr Pervez Khan, when contacted informed that he had not received any such complaint so far and said that inquiry will be initiated to find out the facts and assured that action will be taken against the erring doctors if allegations were found true.
