DPS organizes national road safety week

Jammu, Jan 21: Delhi Public School, Jammu organized a week long Road Safety week on the occasion of 31st National Road Safety week on the theme “Bringing Change Through Youth” and “Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha”.
A seminar cum cultural event was held on the occasion which was graced by the presence of Khushwant Singh, DTI, Jammu who also delivered a lively talk and interactive PPT presentation on the above themes.
The programme commenced with an action song on traffic, adopted by school for National Road Safety Week-2020-“Jeevan ye anmol hai bhaia”, lyrics of which have been composed & tuned by Jai Paul Gill, Senior Music Faculty.
This was followed by a thought provoking skit presented by DIPSITES with an aim to sensitize people about road safety.
The Resource Person shared his rich experience through several anecdotes to drive home the road safety guidelines. He also answered the questions of the students effectively. Around 200 children attended the programme enthusiastically. Various activities were also organized in Primary and Middle Wing.
The students of class II & III were engaged through art by drawing pictures of traffic signals and lights, while students of class IV participated in the ‘Poster Making Activity’ whereas a Road Safety Quiz was organized for students of class V. Students of class VI showcased their talents in Collage Making Activity on the topic ‘Hazards of breaking Traffic Rules, while the students of class VII organized a rally in the school premises holding placards of traffic rules which were readout loudly to create awareness. Few students even wore Helmets to emphasize its importance.
Class VIII students held a class seminar on Traffic Rules, Consequences of not following traffic rules, New laws and policies framed by Government under MVA and Fine imposed for various traffic faults.
