Awareness cum Loan Mela organized at Akhnoor

akhnoor, Jan 29: In order to sensitize the women beneficiaries about the benefits of the schemes being implemented by Jammu and Kashmir Women’s Development Corporation, Mega Awareness Camp cum Loan Mela was organized on at Lehar Sungal Akhnoor Jammu sponsored by National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC) Ministry of Minority Affairs , Government of India.
1000 women beneficiaries participated in the camp amongst whom loan application forms as well as pamphlets were distributed. The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Naheed Soz, Managing Director, Women’s Development Corporation.
In her welcome address, she highlighted various activities and achievements of women’s Development Corporation which has immensely contributed towards the empowerment of the women. She laid thrust on the importance of different viable activities and its market availability through the exhibitions conducted by WDC within and outside the state and requested the gathering to come forward and avail the benefits of the schemes of WDC for their self reliance.
In addition to the schemes, Managing Director also threw light on the issues related to the rights of women, health, nutrition, Female feticide, Beti Bachao Beti Padeao domestic violation and Swacch Bharat Abhiyan and skill development etc. The camp was attended by Child Development Project Officer SWD with staff, Principal, Govt. Girls & Boys High School, Akhnoor with staff, Principal, Govt. Girls High School, Sungal, Panchs/Sarpanches & Handicapped Association Akhnoor who also spoke on the occasion. A small exhibition was also organized wherein sales worth Rs 10,000 was made.
