We The Human launchs plantation drive at Sainik Colony

JAMMU, Feb 13: "We The Human Forum for Nature and Mankind" in collaboration with DFO Urban Jammu launched plantation drive at Sector-D Park near Ram Mandir Sainik Colony Jammu. Apart from Chairman of Executive Body of the trust K.Y.S Manhas Principal District and Session Judge (Retd.), Vice Chairman Captain Lalit Sharma IFS APCCF (Retd.), K.K.Sharma Director Floriculture (Retd.), I A Hammal Dev Commr. Works (Retd.), Anuj Verma, Naresh Verma, Pavitra Panth, Meher Fatima, Asiya Mushtaq, Col Manhas (Retd.), S. Charak, Sunil Singh DFO Urban Jammu, Rakesh Verma Range Officer alongwith other officers of Forest Dept. and local residents were present on the occasion. Total one hundred and twenty saplings of ornamental trees were planted on the occasion.
Exhorting people to fully participate in planting trees to save our environment and reduce effects of greenhouse gases emissions, Chairman of Executive Body of the trust K.Y.S Manhas informed that the trust has set up a target of planting more than 2000 trees in this year. People should develop habits to present tree plants in pots instead of distributing sweets on festivals or weddings.
Captain Lalit Sharma, Vice Chairman of "We The Human" asked people not only to safeguard but also to enhance biodiversity in our state, especially in rain fed areas by planting more number of trees. He asked people to plant a tree on birth of a child or on death of a person.
DFO Urban Jammu Sunil Singh appreciated efforts being put in by "We The Human" in working for restoration of environment and expressed his full support to all such organisations who come forward to work in coordination with the forest department.
