POONCH, Feb 19: Having been established way back in 1932, Govt Middle School for boys is the oldest School in Mendhar sub division where from a number of luminaries have come up time to time, is today craving for the attention of Government due to the dilapidated condition, sources said here. Founded in 1932 as Primary school later on up graded to Middle school this institution have witnessed a graceful past but in present times its pristine glory is at stake. The old building of the school is in shambles and a 3-room structure was constructed under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) which has one room for store and other two rooms for students as well as staff. Another structure of 3 rooms was constructed which has developed cracks and have non-functional bathrooms while as the funds allotted to its construction have been withdrawn without scrutining and verifying the payments. The school kitchen is also in worst condition where shortage of ration remains all time, in short the school lacks all basic facilities what to talk about sports or a playing field. In raining season school gets water logged inside forcing the staff to close it for the day as holiday and in hot days too. Classes are taken in the open. The school consists of 33 students and including four female teachers who often get help from army only as the school is situated in cantonment. While talking to in charge headmaster of the school, Rajesh Sharma Said that he too had been the student of same school but in those times the school was said to be one of the prestigious schools. But now-a-days it is in shambles and nobody listens to our plea to upgrade its infrastructure Rajesh Sharma added we have been constantly intimating to concerned authorities to take the stock of this school but till date nothing has been done, he further added. |
