AJKPC urges L-G for holding Panchayat by-polls without further delay | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 19: All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC)—a frontline body of elected Panchayat members—on Wednesday urged the Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu to ensure that the deferred Panchayat by-polls should be held immediately after the sought time of three weeks. “We understand the security concerns expressed by the administration for the smooth conduct of such a large exercise at village but the administration, particularly, Lieutenant Governor, should ensure that there should not be more delay into the conduct of these polls after the sought time of three weeks,” Anil Sharma, UT president of AJKPC said in a statement issued here. The AJKPC leader said they were working on ground to mobilize people, especially in Kashmir Valley for the Panchayat by-polls. “The AJKPC leaders were holding direct interactions with the aspiring candidates to encourage them for contesting Panchayat by-polls. We had been working on ground to ensure the large participation of the people in these elections, besides encouraging good, honest and competent people to contest Panchayat by-polls,” Sharma said. He said the AJKPC leaders would not stop their exercise and continue to reach out to the people in all the parts of Jammu and Kashmir so that the large participation of people is ensured in these elections. |
