DDC reviews progress of BADP works

JAMMU, Feb 25: District Development Commissioner Jammu, Sushma Chauhan today reviewed the Financial and Physical progress of the Schemes and Works under Border Area Development Program (BADP) for the year 2016-17, 2017-18,2018-19, 2019-20, here at a meeting.
During the meeting, the DDC reviewed progress of ongoing development works taken up under BADP and emphasized for their timely completion with strict adherence to the BADP guidelines and proper utilization of funds. The DDC also reviewed the department wise progress of various works taken under BADP.
In the meeting, threadbare discussions were held, while reviewing the progress of PHE, PWD, PDD, Health, Education and Rural Development departments.
The DDC inquired about the physical status of the ongoing works, number of schemes completed during the current financial year as well as the headway achieved so far on the works under progress.
The DDC directed the officers to make all out efforts to ensure satisfactory provision of basic amenities to the people of the border areas and to gear up their efforts for completing the works well within in the stipulated period of time. The DDC also directed the officers to keep check on the quality of works so as to create productive assets in the border villages for benefit of the people, adding that the disputes with regard to the execution of works should be promptly brought to the notice of the Administration so that disputes can be resolved timely. The steps taken under skill development components of BADP were also reviewed and the work done by the Rural Development officers under C-BYTE an initiative for training of rural youth for appearing in Defence and Para military recruitments was also appreciated by the DDC.
The DDC also set timelines for completion of works and directed the concerned officers to complete all the pending works march 31.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Joginder Katoch, Assistant Commissioner Development, Amit Varmani besides CMO Jammu, BDOs of border blocks of the district, Executive Engineers of PHE, PDD, PWD and other concerned officers.
