Need for propagating inclusive teachings of Guru Nanak Ji for World peace: Advisor Sharma

JAMMU, FEB 29- Highlighting the role of Guru Nanak Ji in the spiritual and mystical legacy of the sub-continent, the Advisor to Lieutenant Governor KK Sharma today said that the teachings of the icon of Sikhism are more relevant in today's context and 'we should ensure the propagation of his message of inclusiveness of the human race.'
The Advisor was speaking at the inaugural function of a two day Punjabi Conference organized by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) held in connection with the celebration of 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Ji, here at Abhinav Theatre.
Former VC, Punjabi University, Patiala, Prof. Jaspal Singh; former HOD, Punjabi, Delhi University, Dr. Jasbir Singh; former President JKSGPCC, Sudharshan Singh Wazir; Secretary, JKAACL, Munir-ul-Islam; scores of intellectuals, writers, poets and people from different walks of life were present.
The Advisor said that Guru Nanak Ji is a part of the collective spiritual legacy of India and he had a special relation with JK. "He travelled most parts of Jammu and Kashmir to spread his message of oneness of God and inclusiveness," he said and added that the onus lies on us to spread his message globally and follow his teachings for peaceful and contended life.
While complimenting the Academy for organizing these types of seminars, the Advisor asked the authorities to undertake a comprehensive exercise to translate all the works and teachings of the Guru Ji in the local languages and dialects so that more people get the spiritual bliss from his teachings. He said that his message of divine love makes us think beyond ourselves and humanity at large.
Former VC, Punjabi University, Patiala, while speaking on the occasion, gave a detailed outlook on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Ji and also the relevance of these in modern day life.
Former HOD, Punjabi, Delhi University also gave an overview on the philosophy of the teachings of the Guru Nanak Ji.
In his address, former President JKSGPCC gave a brief about the life, contribution and relevance of the teachings of the Guru ji for peaceful living and mutual co -existence.
Secretary, JKAACL, also spoke on the occasion and gave a brief of the activities undertaken by the cultural academy in connection with the celebration of 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Ji. He also threw light on the philosophy of Sikhism.
A special issue of Punjabi edition of Shiraza on the life and contribution of Guru Nanak Ji was also released on the occasion.
