Advisor Sharma urges doctors to uplift health sector

JAMMU, Feb 29: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, KK Sharma today asked the young and upcoming doctors to synergize their intellect and activities to uplift the health sector in Jammu and Kashmir in particular and country as a whole.
The Advisor made these remarks while addressing the 3rd Convocation of Government Medical College , Jammu.
It was attended by Financial Commissioner Health, Atal Dulloo; VC, Jammu University, Dr M.K Dhar; Principal GMC, Dr. Sunanda Raina; Administrator, Associated Hospitals, Amit Sharma; senior faculty members, besides a large number of medical students.
The Advisor said that since role of doctors is pivotal in every society their job is manifold. “They need to ensure best treatment to sick and bring further improvement in the health care facilities,” he added. He said that they should also imbibe a sense of belonging to their areas so that they can contribute for J&K specially, and nation in general.
The Advisor said that the government has already initiated several measures for improving the medical health care facilities, besides upgrading the requisite infrastructure. He said that the health sector forms one of the focus areas and requisite interventions are being made.
While complementing the medical college for providing quality educational facilities to the aspiring medicos, the Advisor said that the government is also contributing its bit for making GMC Jammu one of the premier institutions in the country.
He said that it has also been providing state of art health care facilities to the people of the region, besides undertaking quality research on several emerging health issues.
VC, Jammu University, while speaking on the occasion, also exhorted upon the young doctors to contribute towards strengthening the health care facilities in the UT by undertaking quality research activities and also serving in rural and peripheral areas.
Principal GMC, while presenting the college report, gave a brief overview of the activities undertaken by the college during 2018-19 with regard to the academics, infrastructure development, research and extra-curricular activities.
Later, Advisor Sharma gave away degrees to the pass outs of the medical college and felicitated meritorious students.
