Art of Living distributes relief among 2500 families

Jammu, Mar 30: Global spiritual and humanitarian organization, The Art of Living has sent relief in the form of essential items for about 50,000 daily-wage earners who were working in Jammu and live around the slum areas in Jammu, Relief Material For 50,000 Daily-wage Earners, Beggars, Drivers/cleaners, Sadhus, Physically Challenged, Passengers Stranded In Jammu Regionmost of whom hail from states of Rajasthan, Bihar, UP and Odisha. The workers live in and around Jammu in Channi Himmat , Channi Rama, Narwal, Railway station, Trikuta Nagar, Gandhi nagar and Nanak nagar.
The Daily-wage Earners, Beggars, Drivers/cleaners, Sadhus, Physically Challenged , Passengers Stranded In Jammu are provided with 10 kg wheat flour, 5 kg rice, 2 kg dal and biscuits, Rusks per family, to last for a week. The truck loads of material was delivered locality wise by volunteers after following due social distancing protocol.
More relief material will be sent in the next round of dispatch next week. In all, the target is to distribute about 50 tonnes Atta, 25 tonnes rice, 10 tonnes dal, biscuits and rusks.
The Art of Living has dispatched the first batch of 12 trucks with 108 tons of food material to be distributed to families of daily wage earners in four states Indian states also.
Earlier this week, founder of the organization, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar implored people to form endowments and come together to help out daily wage earners. He tweeted, “I call upon those who can, to take a pay cut & form endowments together to take care of daily wage workers & low income groups in your areas so that the economic burden is shared by society locally. Let’s give the assurance that there is enough humanity to take care of everyone.”
