BJP Jammu leaders defy nationwide lockdown

Jammu, Mar 31: At a time when every responsible Indian is contributing in making lockdown against coronavirus successful, some of the leader of the Bharatiya Janta Party from Jammu have seemingly defied such restrictions.
The BJP leadership held a media briefing in the winter capital here to inform journalists about how the party had been working for people in the times of lockdown. The BJP Jammu chapter said the party has responded to over “30000 queries of stranded people.” “Corona Helpline framed by Jammu & Kashmir BJP has received more than 30 thousands Help Calls from stranded people till now,” disclosed party Vice-President Yudhvir Sethi accompanied by All Programme & Abhiyaan Incharge Ajay Pargal and party Media Secretary Dr Pardeep Mahotra at party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar.
Sethi said that “more than 100 BJP leaders are presently actively receiving Help Calls from needy persons, as their mobile numbers are widely circulated by all means by the party.”
But the media briefing was held at a time when even the government of Jammu and Kashmir has been avoiding any such interactions.
Recently amid lockdown the government spokesman Rohit Kansal addressed media in same Jammu but only through social media and phone calls. It was first such press conference called by the government in Jammu and Kashmir where no media person was personally present but interacted through telecommunication channels.
Each and every responsible citizen has been trying to act in a disciplined manner to the lockdown call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi whose iconic message has been welcomed by every section of the society including top leaders like Shahshi Tharoor from the opposition.
But something apparently good about the BJP event in Jammu was that only three leaders of the party addressed media and hence the it was not supposed to be violation of the Section 144 that bans assemblage of more than four persons.
Meanwhile at the event Sethi appreciated all the party leaders and workers who are attending to calls of needy persons. "Our team members are doing their best to provide relief to the persons in need,” he said.
