Excise sleuths conduct raids in Kathua 1950 Kgs of Lahan destroyed

Jammu, May 4: Excise Department destroyed 1950 Kgs of Lahan during different raids carried out to arrest the menace of illicit distillation and sale of illicit liquor in Excise Range Kathua.
On the directions of the Excise Commissioner, Sh Rajesh Kumar Shavan and supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu S. Amarjeet Singh, a team of Excise Range Kathua led by ETO Sh. Virender Kumar comprising of Inspectors Excise Arun Kumar, Razi Ahmad, SI Amit Sharma & Excise Guards Mohd Sharief & Barun Sharma raided the Kangdyal, Dhabwal & Upper Sakthachak areas of Kathua district to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.
In the process, 1950 Kgs of Lahan, raw material of illicit liquor, which is highly hazardous and injurious to health was recovered by the raiding team from state land & later destroyed on spot.
Meanwhile on specific information received from reliable sources that one person is having illicit liquor in his possession for sale at Muradpur, the team of Excise Rajouri led by ETO Virindar Singh along with Inspector Mohd Pervaiz, Sub Inspectors Anil Sharma, Karamat Ali and Excise Guards conducted an excise raid .During the course of raid, one person namely Anil Kumar son of Bodh Raj was arrested and booked under section 48 of Excise Act as two bottles of illicit liquor recovered from his house. Besides this , one working still and 30 liters of Lahan recovered from stateland and destroyed on spot, The raid was conducted on the directions of worthy Excise Commissioner J and K Govt. Rajesh Kumar Shavan,KAS and under the direct supervision of Dy.Excise Commissioner Executive, Jammu S.Amarjeet Singh, KAS.
