Gambling den busted in Rajouri, 11 nabbed with stake money

Rajouri, May 9: Busting a gambling den in Rajouri town, Jammu and Kashmir police in Rajouri nabbed eleven person who were gambling inside a house near Salani bridge and recovered eighty two thousand, three hundred and ten rupees of stake money from their possession.
As per press note issue Rajouri Police said a specific information was received that some person have assembled in a house near Salani bridge thereby violating the lockdown directions with further suspicion of involvement of these men in any unlawful activity.
A police team headed by Station House Officer Rajouri Sameer Jillani under the supervision of Deputy SP Headquarter Surinder Khadyar rushed to the spot and conducted searches during which it came to fore that the person present in the house were gambling with a huge amount of stake money.
Eleven person involved in the act were arrested from the spot..
They include Rahul Gupta son of Kulbushan Gupta, Rakesh Kumar son of Puran Chand, Piyush Mahajan son of Rakesh Kumar, Sanjay Sharma son of Kali Dass, Vishal Sawhney son of Romel Sawhney, Suchit Gupta son of Yashpal Gupta, Kapil Sharma son of Sat Pal Sharma, Suneet Sapotra son of Mohan Lal, Neeraj Sharma son of Romesh Chander, Wahid Khan son of Nazeer Hussain and Rahul Sharma son of Ashok Kumar, all resident of Rajouri town.
Police further informed that stake money to the tune of rupees 82,310 have been recovered besides eighty playing cards.
All the accused have been booked by police in a case FIR 239/2020 under relevant sections of Gambling Act as well as for violation of lockdown order by District Magistrate Rajouri amid Corona virus pandemic.
Further investigation into the matter is going on in police station Rajouri.
