Jammu reeling under prolonged power cuts

Early Times Report

Jammu, July 4: The prolonged and unscheduled power cuts across the Jammu city have thrown the normal life of out of gear and the matters have been made worse due to the rising temperature. The present worst power situation has literally exposed the tall claims of the BJP leaders, as well as the concerned department of its advance preparedness to mitigate power woes in this summer.
The Jammu city has recorded the day of temperature above 40 degrees in the last many days and the unscheduled and prolonged power cuts added to their woes making the normal life miserable for the general public.
“Today, the PDD had announced five hours power cuts in areas of most the city area including Kachi Chawani, Pacca Danga, Janipur etc. for maintenance of power grid from 7 am to 12 noon but despite scheduled power cut, the light could not stay for long and around 10 power cuts were observed till evening, which irked the residents who pay hefty monthly power bills,” the residents told Early times.
The residents criticized the BJP leaders in Jammu as well as the Union Minister for giving empty assurances before the onset of the summer season of making arrangements of extra power to minimize the power cuts to provide succour to the public of Jammu.
“When BJP was not in power, it used to lodge protest demonstrations against the government and the concerned department for power cuts but now they have hidden themselves, when people need them most,” they alleged.
The residents said that entire Jammu knows that before the beginning of summer season, the Union Minister from Jammu had very vociferously announced that extra power will be purchased to meet out the deficiency. Even the concerned department had also assured of an improved power scenario this year but all this proved rhetoric and the people have been facing the same difficult situation which they used to face earlier, they said.
