EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Aug 11: Although it has been more than week since the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had raided the residence of Assistant Commissioner AC Provident Fund Jammu in connection with disproportionate assets and registered FIR but delay in arrest of the corrupt official has been raising serious questions as it has been learnt that he enjoys strong political patronage.
Sources told Early Times that astonishingly, this is not for the first time that the officer has been caught in corrupt practices, his entire service remained in questions and many times he was suspended for misusing his official position.
“He has amassed huge wealth and by using his influence in political corridors he always managed to get out of the clutches of law,” said sources.
Recently, ACB conducted searches at the residence of the officer and found evidences of disproportionate assets, properties worth crores.
Anti-Corruption Bureau Jammu registered a case FIR No. 11/2020 U/S 5 (1) (e) r/w 5(2) J&K P.C Act Svt. 2006 and section 120-B RPC against Asstt Commissioner (Provident Fund, Jammu) on the basis of secret verification/reliable information that he has accumulated huge assets moveable/immovable which are disproportionate to his known sources of income by indulging in corrupt and illegal practices.
During searches several properties were found in his name. A building in the name & style of Krishna Marbles & Tiles at Karan Bagh, is one such benami property in the name of one of his relatives while several luxurious vehicles registered in his own name and that of his relatives were also came to fore.
He has also raised huge bank balances/valuables and other properties in his name or in the name of his relatives by indulging in corrupt practices during his lucrative postings which amounts to criminal misconduct punishable under the aforementioned sections of J&K P.C Act.
“Despite sufficient proof, the arrest of the corrupt official is getting delayed which has been raising doubts over the probe,” the sources said.
