| Road network in deplorable conditions in Sunderbani area: Ravinder Sharma | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 25: Former MLC and Chief Spokesperson JKPCC Shri Ravinder Sharma has expressed concern over the deplorable conditions of various road networks besides neglect of developmental projects in Sunderbani area of Rajouri district.
Sharma who conducted an extensive tour of several parts of Sunderbani, noticed the bad conditions of different roads due to neglect and non maintenance during the past six years. Only selected few were repaired but most internal roads are highly deplorable conditions.
He also alleged that several vital projects sanctioned in the area during previous government due his personal initiatives were languishing and delayed due to non availability of funds.
Several completed projects are pending final completion but were abandoned and people suffering.
He said that the quality check of various road projects should be undertaken and the culprits should be booked as there are complaints of poor quality works and people have raised their grievance.
There is lot of corruption in the allocation and execution of development works and other schemes by the Panchayat Raj system in the absence of independent ombudsman for PRIs.
The Panchayat is the basic unit while Block Dev councils are only supervisory bodies but the later have become executing bodies contrary to the Panchayat Raj system, as the administration has shifted its responsibilities.
He said that Panchayat units at village level should be strengthened and money directly transferred to them instead of other institutions. All works should be monitored by the gram Panchayats, he advocated.
He said that the previous Congress coalition governments have done tremendous works and got sanctioned several projects in the area including creation of administrative units at door steps like SDM, tehsil , BDO blocks and Niabats at various places and other major facilities like Degree college, upgradtion of hospital, sub centers and other such facilities in the area.
However there was not a single major project sanctioned for area during the BJP led regime during the past six years and the area was neglected totally in various spheres and the the people have have been suffering in different modes.
