| After ‘deceived’ by PWD Sudeen villagers carry out repair work on road themselves | | |  A B Sharma

REASI, Sept 7: After being ditched by the higher ups the residents of a village in the Pouni tehsil in this district have started carrying out repair works of a road that has developed ditches and pot-holes despite being commissioned just few years back.
Reports said that the two kilometers long road in Sudeen village has developed huge ditches and potholes and the concerned department has taken no step to set the road right.
The road was commissioned in 2016-17 by the Public Works Department (PWD) and in a span of few years the condition of road has deteriorated to a great extent.
The blacktopping on the road has come off and despite repeated complaints both verbally and written the PWD department has not taken any step to carry out repairs of road. Feeling disgusted the locals including children have taken up the repair work themselves’ and a video in this regard has gone viral on social media sites.
Sharing his views with Early Times former Sarpanch of Sudeen village Om Prakash said that AEE PWD Pouni Pawan Ghai was informed about the condition of road and he promised that department would carry out the repair works. He said the department has gone into deep slumber and no action has been taken.
Executive Engineer PWD Reasi, Janak Raj said that the department would carry out repair works once he knows about the exact location of the village. He also asked the Early Times reporter to send the video to him.
