EARLY TIMES REPORT
SUNDERBANI, Sep 14: Unbelievable but true! The office of Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) Sunderbani is housed in a shop located in the main market with the total dimension of the office being around 80 feet. Sources told Early Times that the AEO office is located on the Ashram Road in Sunderbani and the length as well as breadth of the same being 10 feet by 8 feet. The shortage of space at the shop is playing a spoilsport with the overall activities with the farmers being the ultimate sufferers.
"Since the space is less the farmers as well as officials of the department find it very difficult to sit and move around as and when some meeting or event is organized. In the times of COVID-19 pandemic no social distancing is followed and the attendants could be seen jostling to get some space at the office," said sources.
Sources said that there are 15 Panchayats in Sunderbani tehsil and out of this AEOs have been placed at around 13 Panchayats. They said that the AEO office at Sunderbani has just six chairs and there are two almirah as well with seeds and other material being dumped there. The department pays rent to the owner and it is yet to have its own office. The farmers have appealed LG Manoj Sinha to intervene in the matter and direct the department to construct their own building. They said that office should be constructed in an open space so that they could sit in the open as well.
