| Come, live with us: Farooq tells Omar | | |

Srinagar, Sept 20: While former Chief Minister and National Conference President Omar Abdullah has decided to vacate his official residence here by October end, his father and party patron, Dr Farooq Abdullah has come forward with an offer.
Sources said Dr Abdullah has told Omar that the latter should shift to his paternal house, which is just next to the son’s present official accommodation.
Sources said Dr Abdullah told Omar that he was living all alone and that it was better to live with his parents at their home.
It was reliably learnt that Omar and Dr Abdullah discussed the matter threadbare on the birth anniversary of Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah when the father son duo had long chat on the issue.
Sources said both Dr Abdullah and his wife want that Omar should live with them then live alone.
It was reliably learnt that some of the senior leaders of the National Conference are also of the same opinion that Omar shifts to his father’s place.
It is pertinent to mention that Dr Abdullah owns his personal villa where he lives with this wife. In the same family property, Dr Abdullah Abdullah’s daughter Safia Abdullah also lives with her family in a separate house.
Sources said the Abdullahs want Omar to live with them in these “testing times till political activities revive.”
It is pertinent to mention that Omar and his wife have parted ways and their children live with the mother in the national capital.
Omar, on the other hand, mostly lives alone at his official residence at Gupkar which he now plans to vacate.
It is pertinent to mention that Omar has already taken to the social media announcing his decision of leaving the official residence in the form of two bungalows in the highly fortified area.
Omar, however, has claimed that since the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, New Delhi had never issued him any notice to leave the official accommodation.
Despite repeated attempts, the Abdullahs were not available for comments. |
