SRINAGAR, Sept 21: For a change recovered patients of COVID-19 outnumbered the fresh cases of virus today in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir. While 1,036 fresh cases were reported, the number of recoveries was 1,158 even though the death toll reached 1024 following 23 fresh deaths. Jammu district reported 245 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Srinagar district 141 cases, Baramulla district 79 cases, Rajouri district 66 cases, Budgam district 60 cases, Doda district 59 cases, Samba district 57 cases, Ganderbal district 56 cases, Pulwama district 54 cases, Anantnag district 36 cases, Kathua district 34 cases, Udhampur district 30 cases, Reasi district 26 cases, Poonch district 24 cases, Bandipora district 22 cases, Ramban district 15 cases, Kupwara district 14 cases, Kishtwar district seven cases, Shopian district six cases and Kulgam district five cases.
Jammu, Srinagar and Rajouri districts reported four deaths each followed by Anantnag district three deaths and Budgam, Samba & Doda districts two deaths each. A death each was reported in Poonch and Reasi districts. So far 778 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley with the number of such deaths in Jammu division being 246.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,036 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 563 from Jammu division and 473 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 65,026. Also 23 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; 14 from Jammu division and nine from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 1,158 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 720 from Jammu Division and 438 from Kashmir Division. Out of 65,026 positive cases, 21,887 are active positive, 42,115 have recovered and 1,024 have died; 246 in Jammu division and 778 in Kashmir division. Out of 14, 15,364 test results available, 13, 50,338 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 5, 48,355 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 27,819 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 21,887 in isolation and 61,819 under home surveillance. Besides, 4, 35,806 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 13,199 positive cases, 2,049 active positive, 10,882 recovered, 268 deaths; Budgam has 4,424 positive cases, 1,726 active positive, 2,620 recovered, 78 deaths; Baramulla has 3,923 positive cases, 1,158 active positive, 2,649 recovered, 116 deaths; Pulwama has 3,588 positive cases, 544 active positive, 2,981 recovered, 63 deaths; Anantnag has 3,288 positive cases, 858 active positive, 2,371 recovered, 59 deaths.
“Kupwara has 3,221 positive cases, 882 active positive, 2,278 recovered, 61 deaths; Bandipora has 3,177 positive cases, 1,033 active positive, 2,110 recovered, 34 deaths; Ganderbal has 2,616 positive cases, 664 active positive, 1,926 recovered, 26 deaths; Kulgam has 2,188 positive cases, 155 active positive, 1,990 recovered, 43 deaths and Shopian has 1,936 positive cases, 175 active positive, 1,731 recovered, 30 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 10,422 positive cases, 6,118 active positive, 4,166 recovered, 138 deaths; Rajouri has 2,152 positive cases, 1,212 active positive, 914 recovered, 26 deaths; Udhampur has 1,827 positive cases, 733 active positive, 1,084 recovered, 10 deaths; Kathua has 1,753 positive cases, 671 active positive, 1,067 recovered, 15 deaths; Doda has 1,745 positive cases, 1,124 active positive, 601 recovered, 20 deaths.
“Samba has 1,448 positive cases, 772 active positive, 664 recovered, 12 deaths; Poonch has 1,380 positive cases, 857 active positive, 514 recovered, nine deaths; Ramban has 1,092 positive cases, 367 active positive, 719 recovered, six deaths; Kishtwar has 881 positive cases, 435 active positive, 441 recovered, five deaths and Reasi has 766 positive cases, 354 active positive, 407 recovered, five deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 65,026 positive cases in J&K, 8,269 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
