EARLY TIMES REPORT

UDHAMPUR, Sept 29: Two Patwaris who are posted at Tehsil Latti in district Udhampur have become topic of discussion in official circles as one is claiming that a Tehsildar is harassing him on the basis of his being from SC community while the other Patwari, also from the same community is senn refuting his claims in a viral video.
Few days back, Patwari Ashok Kumar along with members of Patwar Association Udhampur in a press conference had claimed that he was regularly harassed by the Tehsildar Latti on the basis of his caste after which DC Udhampur ordered an enquiry into the issue to be headed by ADC.
Today, a video emerged wherein the other Patwari Rakesh Kumar posted in Tehsildar Office Latti was seen refuting the allegations made by his colleague against the Tehsildar.
“These are baseless allegations and nothing that sort of exists. I am too from the same community but my Tehsildar never made any casteist remarks to me,” he claimed while on the other hand Patwar Association Udhampur has come out openly in support of Ashok Patwari.
When contacted, Tehsildar Latti, Roshan Lal Bakshi said that the allegations made against him were baseless, adding that Ashok Patwari was asked to clear some paper work a few months back which he did not perform and showed arrogance and tore papers following which he had to shut his office so that he may not damage more papers.
“All these activities only promote corruption but I cannot tolerate it in my tenure,” he said.
When contacted, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Viqar Giri said that inquiry will be initiated into the matter.
“We are also verifying the videos and other proofs and soon the report will be prepared after which action will be taken against whosoever found guilty,” said Giri.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Guru Ravi Dass Committee Latti and former Sarpanch has also pleaded innocence of the Tehsildar and said that he rose from the level of a Patwari and allegations against him are having wrong intentions. “Tehsildar Latti is a honest person and he cannot indulge in such an activity,” he said.
