LAHDC elections: Leh BJP not ready to take help of Jammu based party leaders
10/1/2020 11:42:25 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 1: Although the BJP has released list of its candidates for all seats of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh elections, party leaders from Leh have bluntly told high command not to depute any leaders from Jammu for campaign as Jammu based leaders are facing ‘credibility deficit’.
Credible sources said that Jammu based leaders have lost trust and faith of the people of Ladakh, especially those of Leh due to their ‘deceitful tactics’. It is all due to such ‘dirty tricks’ of Jammu based BJP leaders that Leh leadership has decided to make a distance from such ‘incredible’ party leaders from Jammu. Sources said it was all due to opposition of Leh based leaders that party high command has especially deputed Union Minister of State for Home, G K Reddy and BJP national general secretary, Arun Singh to kick start election campaign in the mountainous region where party is likely to face tough competition from Congress.
Instead of allowing any BJP leader from Jammu to participate in electioneering in Leh, party high command asked the duo to release the first list of party candidates. The second list was released by its UT president and MP Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal.
Sources in the party said after getting UT status, the Ladakh unit of BJP has made it clear to the high command that their unit should be separated from J&K unit of the party so as to make decisions freely as per the wishes and aspirations of locals.
Like other state units, functioning of Ladakh BJP will be monitored by the central leadership and J&K unit has no role in involving any activity of this unit.
Pertinent to mention here Ladakh unit of BJP had always blamed Jammu based leaders of the party for not taking their grievances ‘seriously’. While resigning from BJP as well as from Lok Sabha, veteran Ladakhi leader Thupstan Chhewang on November 14, 2018, had lambasted Jammu based leaders for not taking Ladakh leadership into confidence while taking important decisions related to this mountainous region.
