BARAMULLA, Oct 5: Legal Metrology Department (LMD) Baramulla booked a wallputty manufacturing factory for mentioning false declaration of name and address of manufacturer/ packer on wallputty packages.
The factory was manufacturing and packing wallputty packages in the name and address of Star J. K. Wallputty, J&K Wallputty, Jay Kay Wallputty and Britex Enterprizes.
The seizure memo has been issued on spot and further legal proceedings are underway.
The factory owner has been asked for explaining the reasons behind this brazen violation of Section 36 of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009.
Clear directions have been issued to the factory management for recalling the deceptive packages from market immediately.
Consumers are also advised to remain carefull while buying the product in question.
In another case, the Department imposed a fine of Rs. 25000 on a hardware goods company for violating the provisions of Legal Metrology Act, 2009 and the rules made there under.
Earlier, a case was registered against the company after seizure of packaged items was made from a retailer in Sopore.
The company admitted the lapse and requested for compounding at Department level while assuring the Department that proper labelling will be done in future on all products sold by the company.
