Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 5: Former legislature from Ramban and spokesperson Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) urged upon Government of India to hold assembly elections at the earliest only after restoration of complete Statehood in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, Ashok has said that there is huge political lacuna in the political space of both Jammu and Kashmir which has been uncompensated by the newly elected Block Development Council chairman and other local bodies.
The three tier panchayat system is healthy for the decentralization of power however, it has not been completed yet and BDC chairman is elected by the Panchs of the block and thus the general masses have no political reach to solve their everyday issues. It is absolutely a incomplete democratic process in Jammu and Kashmir.
Ashok has demanded to the Government of India to pass an new ordinance where the minimum qualification for the nomination of Member of Parliament, Member of legislative Assembly and BDC chairman should be at least a graduate.
This will definitely results in a building a prosperous Democratic process which in turn benefits each and every citizens of J&K to solve their everyday issues.
He further stressed upon the government to pass an ordinance where the minimum criteria for the nomination of MP, MLA and other local bodies, the nominee should not have more than two children.
Ashok has demanded to the Election Commission of India and Central Government to use ballot instead of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) to reduce the risk of spreading of Covid-19 virus. He also demanded for CCTV cameras in every polling station in all parliamentary and assembly constituencies in J&K.
Ashok has further said that the general public of J&K is facing many problems like covid-19 related issues, unemployment, scarcity of drinking water, lack of electricity, health issues, education anomalies, dilapidated roads, and others problems.
However, these day to day problems are not being resolved properly due to the inaccessibility of the general masses to the public institutions and also lack of political reach.
