B2V Impact: Abdul, many others become proud owners of dream home in Poonch
10/5/2020 11:35:41 PM
Early Times Report

POONCH, Oct 5: Be it ever so humble, there’s no place like home,” – the axiom does not stand the test when it comes to the well furnished concrete house several villagers have built in this border district by availing the benefits of Prime Minister’s Awas Yojana -Grammen- a flagship central sector housing scheme for the rural homeless.
Poonch District resides in villages, and among the local people, there are many who can't afford their own pucca house because of poverty. The PMAY scheme has changed the life of numerous eligible persons of the district by making them proud owners of a dream home.
A number of assets including PMAY houses are being inaugurated in the rural areas of Poonch district by the visiting officers amid the ongoing Back to Village programme launched by the LG administration in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Abdul Khaliq of Jaranwali Gali village of tehsil Mehndar feels relieved after he was handed over the key by the visiting officer of his pucca house built by taking benefit of PMAY.
Abdullah was sanctioned the PMAY house during the second phase of the B2V . His happiness knew no bounds when the visiting officer to his Panchayat hosted a House warming ceremony (Greh Prevash). “My children have suffered a lot during harsh weather conditions while living in an unsafe mud house,” the emotional Abudllah narrated. He said “All my worries have vanished now and I foresee a bright future for my children hereafter.”
Like Abdul Khaliq, the scheme has changed the days of many other eligible people from bare existence to a decent life. The pucca house with all the basic amenities like water, LPG, toilet, electricity has added to the self-esteem of beneficiaries and relieved them from daily worries of living with bare minimum resources. With the new facilities, they have much spare time to invest for raising their economic and social status.
