Early Times Report

KISHTWAR, Oct 24: A 19-year old youth from once a militancy hub of Keshwan in Thakrie block of Kishtwar District who went missing on September 23 has reportedly joined the militants in Kashmir and has been reportedly traced with them in Shopian District of South Kashmir.
As per the details available with Early Times, the youth identified by the police sources as Mohammad Saleem (5 feet & 7 inch tall) son of Late Lal Din R/o Sarwan Keshwan, District Kishtwar was reportedly gone missing last month and his missing report accordingly entered in Police Station Kishtwar wide DD No 08 dated 17/10/2020.
The senior police officials in Kishtwar District confirmed to Early Times about the joining of Mohammad Saleem into Lashker-e-Toiba outfit added that his late father Lal Din was also a militant who got killed in an encounter with the security forces in the year 2007 when Saleem was only 6 year old.
The officials said that his uncle late Mohammad Yousaf Ismail was also a militant and the youth was living with his old age grandfather since his mother got remarried in Ramban some 10 years ago.
"We are looking into the all possible aspects of joining of Mohammad Saleem into militants ranks like how he managed to reach Shopian and established contact with the militant group, who were the persons behind his recruitment into militancy, how he got radicalized and who was responsible for motivating him" said the official.
The senior officials also confirmed about his presence in Shopian added that he has been officially declared as militant and will face the same fate like any other militant active in J&K.
It is pertinent to mention that a youth from Doda District who joined militancy was captured alive from an encounter.
With joining of Mohammad Saleem, Kishtwar District now had four active militants which included longest surviving Hizb Commander Jahangir Saroori, Riaz Ahmed and Muddasir all active in Marwah/Dachhan/South Kashmir areas while two other persons Talib Hussain and Tariq Hussain were also missing since last few years and had also reportedly joined militancy.
