SRINAGAR, Oct 24: The COVID-19 recovery rate in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 90 percent today after 733 patients were discharged from different hospitals today. The number of positive cases reached 91,329 following 577 new cases and the death toll reached 1,430 with six fresh deaths.
Srinagar district reported 130 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Jammu district 116 cases, Budgam district 50 cases, Baramulla district 47 cases, Kupwara district 45 cases, Doda district 33 cases, Anantnag district 27 cases, Bandipora district 24 cases, Kishtwar district 13 cases, Pulwama and Ganderbal districts 12 cases each, Kulgam district 11 cases, Poonch district nine cases, Udhampur and Kathua districts eight cases each, Rajouri, Samba and Ramban districts seven cases each, Shopian district six cases and Reasi district five cases.
Srinagar and Jammu districts each reported two fresh deaths of COVID-19 followed by a death each in Anantnag and Doda districts. So far 955 people have died due to Corona Virus in the Kashmir valley while as in Jammu division 475 people have fallen prey to the virus till date.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 577 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 213 from Jammu division and 364 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 91,329. Also six COVID-19 deaths have been reported; three each from Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
Moreover, 733 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 344 from Jammu Division and 389 from Kashmir Division. Out of 91,329 positive cases, 7,680 are active positive, 82,219 have recovered and 1,430 have died; 475 in Jammu division and 955 in Kashmir division.
Out of 21, 53,529 test results available, 20, 62,200 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 6, 40,901 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 19,168 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7,680 in isolation and 48,936 in home surveillance. Besides, 5, 63,687 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 18,531 positive cases, 1,794 active positive, 16,393 recovered, 344 deaths; Budgam has 5,836 positive cases, 371 active positive, 5,374 recovered, 91 deaths; Baramulla has 5,539 positive cases, 1,393 active positive, 4,008 recovered, 138 deaths; Pulwama has 4,539 positive cases, 259 active positive, 4,201 recovered, 79 deaths; Kupwara has 4,250 positive cases, 386 active positive, 3,793 recovered, 71 deaths.
“Anantnag has 4,162 positive cases, 368 active positive, 3,720 recovered, 74 deaths; Bandipora has 3,957 positive cases, 268 active positive, 3,644 recovered, 45 deaths; Ganderbal has 3,420 positive cases, 222 active positive, 3,166 recovered, 32 deaths; Kulgam has 2,454 positive cases, 107 active positive, 2,301 recovered, 46 deaths and Shopian has 2,146 positive cases, 65 active positive, 2,046 recovered, 35 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 16,792 positive cases, 932 active positive, 15,612 recovered, 248 deaths; Rajouri has 3,166 positive cases, 194 active positive, 2,927 recovered, 45 deaths; Udhampur has 2,628 positive cases, 108 active positive, 2,492 recovered, 28 deaths; Doda has 2,604 positive cases, 181 active positive, 2,379 recovered, 44 deaths; Kathua has 2,376 positive cases, 47 active positive, 2,299 recovered, 30 deaths.
“Poonch has 2,193 positive cases, 316 active positive, 1,855 recovered, 22 deaths; Samba has 2,125 positive cases, 362 active positive, 1,738 recovered, 25 deaths; Kishtwar has 1,837 positive cases, 181 active positive, 1,642 recovered, 14 deaths; Ramban has 1,551 positive cases, 57 active positive, 1,482 recovered, 12 deaths and Reasi has 1,223 positive cases, 69 active positive, 1,147 recovered, seven deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 91,329 positive cases in J&K, 9,559 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
