EARLY TIMES REPORT

KISHTWAR, Nov 13: After losing battle on all fronts to get the road for remote village Palali in Paddar Sub Division of Kishtwar District, a woman Sarpanch along with her husband and minor child is sitting on protest fast since last four days, demanding road as per the original alignment for her native village and adjoining areas.
As per the details available with Early Times, the Sarpanch Vijay Lakshmi visited various government offices praying for construction of Gulabgarh-Palali road as per the alignment fixed in the Detail project report, but after getting lukewarm response from all quarters she decided to sit on fast in order to press for the demand.
She was first joined by her husband and her minor child and then by the villagers who also become a part of the indefinite strike since last four days amid bone-chilling sub-zero temperature in the area.
The locals told the Early Times that they are fed up with local administration as well as with the PMGSY department officials who on their own changed the road alignment, adding that with the change in road alignment the five important villages have been left without road connectivity.
The people said that PMGSY on its own terms and condition changed the road alignment with ulterior motives as it wanted to give benefits to the contractors at the cost of the people’s aspirations.
The people urged upon the Minister in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, LG Manoj Sinha, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar and former Minister Sunil Sharma to look into the issue and get the road constructed as per the DPR beside called for fixing the responsibility on the guilty officials involved in sabotaging this prestigious road project under construction since last over a decade.
