JAMMU, Nov 19: Taking cognizance of the news item published in Early Times highlighting the encroachment of Irrigation Department's land in Makhanpur Gujjran, the RS Pura administration initiated action against the encroachers by launching demolition drive, however, the illegal occupants scuttled the exercise and demolition team had to return empty handed.
Sources told Early Times that when a team of administration reached the spot to demolish the structure (shop) constructed on irrigation land, the encroachers had already placed a truck just in front of the shop due to which the team could not demolish it.
"Encroachers had already got secret information of the demolition drive and thereby they had placed a truck in front of the illegally raised shop to stop action, which shows how powerful these encroachers are. After spending some time, the team returned empty handed," said sources.
They alleged that the administration has been shielding the encroachers which can be gauged from the fact that local administration didn't take appropriate steps when it was informed earlier but after DDC Jammu intervened into the matter, the administration took action but all in vain as it has been suspected someone in the administration informed the encroachers before the arrival of the demolition squad.
Complainants said that SDM RS Pura had assured that the structure will be demolished today itself by 4 pm but it didn't happen. |
