MASOOD MALIK
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Nov 24: Former Chief of the Army Staff and Member Parliament General V K Singh today said that people of Jammu and Kashmir have been deprived of their constitutional rights and have been manipulated and made to suffer for seventy long years.
Terming District Development Council elections as the completion of the Panchayati Raj system, Singh said that whatever have been enjoyed by all other states of India are now reaching Jammu and Kashmir.
"Erstwhile governments were playing with the sentiments of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and just to keep power in their own hands never tried to invest power with people . It is only Prime Minister Narendra Modi government that has turned the tables in Jammu and Kashmir that every constitutional, social and economic right of the people of this UT is reaching their doorsteps," said Singh .
He was talking about the schemes which are benefitting the people of Jammu and Kashmir , particularly the farmers while addressing a gathering at Mandal Phallian in support of election campaign for Geetu Aulakh, the BJP candidate for DDC elections.
He said there are 171 government schemes which are meant for farmers and present Modi government is trying all out efforts to make them reach the grassroot level .
Singh also pooh-poohed the Gupkar Alliance saying that it is the amalgamation of those failed lot which have been making live the people of Jammu and Kashmir in acute penury.
"I call them ' bin pende ka lauta '- a bowl without base - as they have lost their credibility and now are looking for an escapism," said Singh about the PAGD.
Singh called upon the people present in the gathering at block Mandal to vote for Geetu Aulakh , the BJP candidate from the area and said that empowering BJP will lead tp holistic empowerment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Contesting candidate Geetu on the occasion said that given a chance to serve the people of the area, she will leave no stone unturned to usher block Mandal Phallian in prosperity and development.
"I have been given mandate by the BJP party and I am very much thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and my leaders in the constituency like Sukhnandan Chudhary, Bali Bhagat and all BJP leaders including state president Ravinder Raina for reposing faith in me," said Geetu
On the occasion she assured that her entire focus will be on the upliftment pf the people of the constituency, especially women and elders.
