Flop Show
11/24/2020 11:53:07 PM

The seat sharing arrangement for the forthcoming District Development Council (DDC) elections has created sharp differences among the People Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD)—an amalgam of Kashmir centric parties—that have come together with a slogan to get everything back, including Article 370 that was abrogated by the Centre on August 5, 2019.
The cracks within the PAGD are wide and open as the parties that are contesting the forthcoming District Development Council (DDC) elections jointly are facing a peculiar situation. The candidates who have been denied mandate by their respective parties are contesting these polls as independents.
The first experiment of the PAGD seems to have turned out to be a “flop show” as the leaders who had come together to get everything back are finding it hard to keep their flock together.
The National Conference led PAGD, which includes Peoples Democratic Party, also was constituted recently. When this alliance was shaped up the PAGD leaders had claimed that power is not their aim and they have come together for bigger cause, but soon after the DDC polls were announced the amalgam forgot about the bigger cause and jumped into the fray to once again get access to the power corridors.
Till date PDP and NC have got lion’s share in the seats this has created resentment among the smaller constituents of the amalgam. They are demanding their share but are not getting it. The alliance which made tall promises after it was formed is bickering over seat sharing arrangement for the DDC polls.
The infighting has exposed the alliance and has made it amply clear that the only aim of the Kashmir centric parties to come together is power and they are not interested in anything else.
The cracks which are visible at present are a clear indication that this marriage of compulsion won’t last long and it will crumble under its own weight very soon.
The PAGD leaders who have coined new slogans to hoodwink the people will get a befitting reply from the voters as masses are no more interested in their politics of deceit and lies. The PAGD allies fighting for seats in the DDC polls is just a beginning. More drama is in offing in the coming days. This just a trailer, film is yet to begin.
