Khelo India Ice Hockey Tournament Started in Chiktan
2 Women Teams Particpating 1st time in Kargil

KARGIL, Jan 6: Khelo India Ice Hockey Tournament was organised at Chiktan by Zonal Physical Education Officer Chiktan.
For the first time Women Team of Chiktan participated in the Khelo India Games in Kargil district.
13 team from different villages of Chiktan are participating in the tournament in which 11 teams are of Boys and 2 teams of girls are participating.
The tournament was inugurated by SDM Shakar Chiktan and the Chief Guest of the event Kacho Asgar Ali khan in presence of ZPEO Chiktan Ghulam Rasool along incharge police post Chiktan.
While appreciating the efforts of ZEPO Chiktan and his team Kacho Asgar Ali said that starting the game and introducing the first women Ice Hockey Team in Kargil is a great achievement for Shakar Chiktan as Ice Hockey was started from Chiktan Block and is now famous in whole UT Ladakh still there is very few players from Chiktan at National and International Level which should be the focus of Such Events. He further added that being a native of Shakar Chiktan, he recalled his memories that in old days the local Black Smiths of Chiktan used to make Ice Hockey Shoes locally such was the craze of Ice Hockey.
He urged upon the Players to try hard to bring back the glory of Chiktan in Ice Hockey.
Ghulam Rasool ZPEO said that the motive of organizing such events by the UT Administration at Zonal Level is to popularize the Game in the whole UT Ladakh so that talents from far-flung areas should get a platform to prove themselves.
