JAMMU, Jan 6: Dharmarth Trust employees, who are on protest for the last 37 days and chain hunger strike for the last tenth day under the banner of Dharmarth Trust Employees Association (DTEA), on Wednesday urged Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to settle their demand of Constitution of Board for all Temples under Dharmarth Trust on the pattern of Shri Mata Viashno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB).
Hundreds of employees assembled in the premises of Ranbireshwar Temple and other temples in entire Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and raised slogans during protest.
Those who sat on hunger strike today include Vimla Devi, Jeeto Devi, Pt Sunit Kumar, Pt Sahil Sharma, Sagar Singh, Faquir Chand, Jatinder Singh Jamwal, Parmay, Pt Bodh Raj and Pt Naresh Kumar.
President Vivek Bandral urged Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to resolve the issues at the earliest as the demand of the employees endorsed by civil society is genuine as there is a large number of temples under the Dharmarth Trust are damaged or in dilapidated condition. She asked all the employees of Trust to continue their agitation till their demands are met.
Working President, Rajinder Shastri asked Lt Governor Manoj Sinha if he fail to constitute the board for all temples under Dharmarth Trust then revoke the decision of the then Governor in 1986 to constitute Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board as Shri Mata Viashno Devi Shrine is also the part of Dharmarth Trust which is the main source of income for employees of the trust.
Hitting out at the claims of Dharmarth Trust, ex General Secretary of the Association, Pritam Sharma alleged that Dharmarth Trust management sold multi-thousand Kanals land belonging to different temples under the management of Dharmarth Trust in Jammu and Kashmir.
Among others present in the strike were Ex-President Karnail Chand Thakur, Sunit Sharma, Subash, Pt Parshotam, Pt Brijmohan Sharma, Pt Om Parkash, Pt Rampal, and several others.
