Early Times Report

Rajouri, Jan 6 :The Public Works Department, Division Nowshera has allegedly blacktopped various roads fall under jurisdiction using substandard material, as after passing six months the road got disappeared exposing the unholy nexus between contractors and the department officials.
Several roads in Rumali Dhara to Bareri and Dabbar and Sunderbani of the division clearly speaking what has been done at cost of public exchequer, which had gone dilapidated few months of after compilation, but despite assurance by the dept, the road could not be repaired yet.
The concerned department has continuously been hoodwinking the people of Bareri village, who are most affected, that repair work will be done soon but it has been years, nothing has been done. Former Sarpnach Bareri Mukand Lal and Former Chairman Panchyat Bareri, Social Activist Sanam Raina and Tilak Raj alleged that PWD Nowshera undertook blacktopping of the road in January 2019 against the norms.
“As per rules, blacktopping of road is prohibited during winter season as hot weather is needed for it but disregarding all guidelines, the blacktopping was done in winter season and that too during night hours, which after a few days started breaking,” they alleged.
They further said that there is a very famous temple of Guru Ravidas in the village where a big festival is held in the month of January every year and wherein devotees from across the country visit the temple but due to bad condition of the road, it has become difficult for the people to reach easily.
Most of the school and colleges going students of the area prefer this road to reach their destiny, but for the last seven years the condition of the road is the same. In Ward no 13 of Sunderbani Town, the road during this rain has turned a nullah, where walking or driving both are difficult.
When contacted Executive Engineer of Nowshera Division, he said that post of Superintendent Engineer is vacant and work shall be started soon after SE is posted.
Meanwhile, ADC Sunderbani Vinod Kumar, said that he would inquire about the matter.
