BARAMULLA, Jan 9: President Municipal Committee (MC) Baramulla was removed as eleven ward members moved a no confidence motion against him today. It is learnt that Chief Executive Officer (CEO) MC Baramulla had called a meeting of 19 elected ward members as the members had formally moved an application to him for the floor test.
"Ward members had formally moved an application to CEO MC Baramulla for informing him that let the president MC Baramulla to prove his majority as his tenure had already come to an end in the last month," said sources.
Sources said that out of 19 ward members, 11 members gave no confidence motion against the sitting president MC Baramulla. "Thus in a democratic way, the sitting president MC Baramulla Omar Azar Kakroo was removed from the president ship with an immediate effect, sources informed."
However, Omar while talking to media said that on December 28 some ward members had called a meeting in which no vote of motion was set forth and today I fail to understand that how a no confidence motion was set against him, when it was already rejected earlier.
He alleged that there are some political parties that know that the Congress is heading the council and they want to elect their candidate ward member as President MC Baramulla. Meanwhile Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Imtiyaz Ahmad told media that there are 19 elected ward members out of which only 12 were present while seven remained absent.
"Among 12 members eleven ward members gave no confidence motion against Omar and only one favoured him, thus according to law from today Omar is not the president of MC Baramulla," said CEO MC Baramulla. He said that a report will be to the Director ULBK and government and till then Mudasir Ahmad vice president will act as president MC Baramulla.
