Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 15: As a sequel to fake appointments surfaced in J&K Handicraft Department, the government has constituted another committee to examine fraudulent appointments in Jammu and Kashmir Skill Development Department.
Moreover, the government through a circular has asked all the Heads of Departments of the Finance Department to ensure due verification and vigilance in the matter and strict action for any lapses that may have occurred in the past.
“It is hereby ordered that the Fact-Finding Committee constituted in terms of Government order, in supersession of Government Order No. 578-GAD of 2019 dated 11.05.2019, for looking into fraudulent appointments made between 2010-2018 in the Skill Development Department and Autonomous, corporation and Organizations, a fresh committee has been constituted”, Government Order No:32-JK (GAD) of 2021, dated 15/01/2021.
The new committee would be headed by the Principal Secretary to Government Housing &Urban Development Department, while Secretary to the Government, Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction and Secretary to the Government, Tribal Affairs Department would be the members of the committee. “The Committee shall identify those responsible for fraudulent appointments, if any, and submit its report by 15.02.2021”, the order reads.
Meanwhile, the Finance department in a circular has started the process of tightening the noose around backdoor appointees.
“Some cases of fake orders being circulated in the media have been noticed recently which calls for immediate strict action against unscrupulous elements. Similarly, some recruitment orders have also been noticed”, FA/Adm/Circular/2021/1, issued by J&K Finance Department read.
“It is hereby enjoined upon all HoDs of the Finance Department to ensure due verification and vigilance in the matter and strict action for any lapses that may have occurred in the past.
In all such cases the matter may be referred to the Crime Branch without fail besides informing the Administrative Department of the action taken”, the circular added.
It is pertinent to mention here that some class-IV employees of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj who have acquired top posts by resorting to unfair means are a clear example of the alleged fraudulent appointments.
The departments despite being aware of these facts are still not taking any action against these erring employees.
