CUJ signs MoU with GIAN to support innovators

SAMBA, Jan 18: Central University of Jammu (CUJ) through its Institutional Innovation Council (IIC) joined hands with the Jammu & Kashmir team of Gujarat Grassroots Innovations Augmentation Network (GIAN) with main office in Ahmedabad, to map and support the innovators and outstanding traditional knowledge holders in the region Jammu province, including other adjoining states in the joint programme.
This will include, identifying and documenting grassroots and student innovations, traditional knowledge, etc especially in the Jammu province, in an endeavour to bring out the unsung creative people of the region and facilitate their commercialisation as well as dissemination through various commercial and non-commercial channels. It was resolved that innovations mobilised by this programme from various sectors and segments will also be given global visibility as a part of Honey Bee Network database.
Signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Prof Ashok Aima, VC CUJ appreciated the efforts taken by IIC and GIAN in coming forward to formulate this partnership which will benefit the students, grassroots innovators and entrepreneurs in the Jammu province. Dr Pankaj Mehta, President-IIC said that this partnership will bring new opportunities for the students and people and their creativity and knowledge will be known countrywide now. The team from GIAN headed in J&K by Syed Nadeem and Sabzar Wani assured all assistance in scouting and reaching out to the innovators in the far-flung areas of Jammu and supporting them to turn them into enterprises. Prof Sunil Dhar and Dr J N Balia were also present in the event. The partnership will build linkages between excellence in formal scientific systems and informal knowledge systems and create a knowledge network to link various stakeholders, said Dr Anamika Dey.
