BARAMULLA, Jan 19: High Court has stayed order of Executive Officer Municipal Council Baramulla in which he removed Omar Kakroo as President of MC Baramulla.
Addressing a press conference, Omar said that as per court order he has been allowed to continue as President Municipal Council Baramulla, yet final decision has not been received from High Court regarding no confidence motion which was submitted earlier and later withdrawn adding the next date of hearing is 17th March 2021.
“I am happy and satisfied with the High Court order cum direction in my favour, which proves my genuineness. I was having full faith that there is someone who will listen to my plea. Removing me illegally without follow up of proper procedure was a clear violation of J&K Municipal Act,” said Kakroo.
He further said that he has working since last two years for general public in good faith and gesture.
With regard to some developments that they have made at MC Baramulla, he said that new sewer cleaning machines and garbage hoppers etc have been purchased.
“The project which I have initiated with the help of my councilors from last two years will be completed/started in coming months which include Door to Door collection of Garbage from household and commercial activities, 100% Street lights, Completion of Janbaz wali (RA) Marriage Hall, Renovation of lanes and drains in all wards especially in Old town, Khanpora and Khawaja Bagh,” said Omar.
According to him proper drainage system in Baramulla, solid waste management project, construction of office complex, construction of parking place at Noor-ul Huda market, Children’s park, Model library cum Press club, beautification of town cum river banks and STPs have to be done.
It is pertinent to mention that on January 9, 11 ward members had moved a no confidence motion against the president of MCB.
