Even after 19 months of lay off, teachers fail to report at many schools in Kishtwar District 3/2/2021 11:10:38 PM asif iqbal naik Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 2: What could be a shameful act on part of the some teachers that even after observing holidays and vacations for around 19 months-many teachers in majority of the schools in far flung areas of Kishtwar District failed to report on duty even after two days since the school were declared open by the government of Jammu & Kashmir. As per the details available with Early Times, the schools in winter zone of Jammu Division were closed first after abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A of the constitution on August 5, 2019 followed by the winter vacations. When the school opened in March 2020 the Corona pandemic hit the globe forcing the world wide lockdown including the closure of all the schools and other educational institutions throughout the world including in Kishtwar District. As soon as life started limping back to normalcy, though the schools and other educational institutions opened in summer zones of UT of Jammu and Kashmir, but in winter zone the schools were again closed till February 28,2021 before the government ordered for opening of High/Higher Secondary level schools with further directions that the staff of all schools up to middle school will attend their duties at respective schools and check out the plan for sanitization of schools and make necessary arrangements for prevention of spread of COVID 19 by implementing the guidelines issued by the government, but surprisingly many schools found closed even after 19 months. The angry people demanded stern action against the absenteeism culture while sharing videos of closed schools in Kishtwar district on the eve of first working day at schools- followed by videos of closure of schools on 2nd day as well. Speaking to Early Times, the people said that give spent crores of rupees on salaries of the teachers and other supporting staff posted in these schools, but unfortunately even after spending around 19 months at home- the teachers fail to report at schools.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
