Early Times Report

RS PURA, Mar 11: Asking people to marginalize entities which are hell bent to polarize society just to satiate their petty political agendas, District Development Council member Suchetgarh, Taranjeet Singh Tony on Thursday extended greetings on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri.
The DDC member addressed gatherings at various places in Suchetgarh Constituency wherein people were celebrating Mahashivratri by organizing Bhandaras and Shobha Yatra being taken on Maha Shivratri at Main Bazaar R. S Pura.
The DDC member said that Mahashivratri symbolizes the values of societal bonhomie and amity which are the hallmark of J&K’s dazzling composite cultural ethos. He said that UT holds a special significance in celebrating festivals of people of all shades of life in the ambience filled with love and brotherhood thus adding more values to these sacred occasions.
He said that the era of tranquility and prosperity can usher in J&K only by respecting age old pluralistic ethos prevailing in the region despite people with varied ethnicities residing in the closet. He hoped that the people will hold the spirit of oneness and mutual brotherhood high while celebrating this auspicious occasion. He also prayed to Lord Shiva for early restoration of statehood.
The DDC member however asked the people to remain vigilant against those trying to create fissures among the society on the basis of region, religion and linguistic differences just to vitiate the peace for satiating their vested political interests.
Tony made it clear that beauty of J&K is its unity in diversity and this characteristic should be upheld at all costs.
He urged the people to live like a bigger family by supporting those in need and discarding none.
He also vowed to give wholehearted support in resolving issues of the people by doing whatever possible. He said rendering public service is his sole motive and this desire motivated him to join politics.
Other prominent persons present on the occasion include Sarpanch S.S Sodhi Bishan Lal, Sarpanch Mohan Sharma, Sarpanch Binny Sharma, Ajju Chib and Sarpanch Sapna Sharma.
