Early Times Report

Srinagar, Mar 26: Two Over Ground Workers (OGWs) who provided logistic support to Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants who are involved in Srinagar attack on Thursday in which two CRPF personnel were killed and as many injured have been arrested, a senior police officer said.
Talking to reporters on the sideline of wreath laying ceremony of two martyred CRPF personnel at RTC Humhama, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir range, Vijay Kumar said the Lawaypora Srinagar attack on CRPF has been solved with the arrest of two OGWs of LeT.
However, three LeT militants, including two Pakistanis, managed to escape from the hideout after learning about the arrest of two OGWs identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Mir and Javed Ahmad Sheikh, who provided logistic support to LeT militants to carry out attack on CRPF.
Mr Kumar said yesterdays attack will have no affect on annual yatra to holy Amarnath Cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas. We will eliminate the militants involved in the attack before the commencement of the yatra from June 28, he said.
Giving details about yesterdays attack Mr Kumar said that Srinagar and Bandipora police worked tirelessly immediately after the attack and identified two OGWs and LeT militant Nadeem Abrar Bhat alias Abu Brar, resident of Narbal, Badgam who took part in the Lawaypora attack.
The OGWs Mir and Sheikh provided logistic support to Nadeem, who is close relative of OGW Mir”, Mr Kumar said adding that trio had conducted a recee of the area a day before the attack yesterday afternoon.
He said acting on a lead Sheikh was arrested alongwith the Maruti car bearing numbee HR 10 Q-6583 and some empty cartridges were recovered from the car. Later on his questioning and interrogation, Mir was also arrested. Both the OGWs have confessed their crime. He said security forces conducted raids at two possible hideouts of Nadeem and two foreign militants. However, before the hideouts were raided they had fled from there after learning about the arrest of Mir and Sheikh.
In reply to a question Mr Kumar said there is movement of militants on the national highway in Srinagar as all roads leads to districts.
Asked about three bank robberies during the past fortnight, the IGP said one person has so far been arrested and more arrested are on cards.
