Farmers backbone of our economy: Sat

Jammu, Mar 27: An onsite workshop & sensitization meet for progressive farmers of Jammu District, Farmers Producer Organization (FPO’s) was organized. The meeting was inaugurated by Former State President BJP and Ex Minister Sat Sharma (CA). The meeting was organized by NABARD Jammu in association with Koushal Jammu Milk producer co. ltd (FPO) and Sarveshwar foods.
Speaking on the occasion Sat Sharma reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for betterment of farmer community in India and especially in Union Territory of J&K for which he said that localized network of FPO’s is mandatory. He said that with formation of FPO’s in each block and with over 15000 FPOs working in coming times will become a big support to our economy and will give a major boost to the rural farmer. He further said that encouragement to new and old FPOs will be provided as and when required. He stated that PM is committed to provide every possible assistance to the farmers across India and three revolutionary laws brought by the Modi Government in this regard will help in improving the lifestyle of farmers, he added. He lauded the efforts of NABARD and other organizers for promoting the vision of the PM by encouraging other farmers to frame FPO’s to boost our agricultural system.
The keynote address was given by Priya Ranjan (DDM, Jammu) who briefed the gathering in detail about the objectives of the meeting and role of NABARD and allied departments for formation of FPO's. The DDM, NABARD (Jammu) presented a conclusive account of methodology for formation of new FPOs in Jammu district and gave the roadmap for the coming financial year as well.
The progressive farmers from various blocks of Jammu district were present in the meeting along with management of J&K dairy Producer, Processors, and marketing coop union limited (JKDCUL). The vote of thanks was given by Satish Gupta (MD, JKDCUL)
