DC Jammu reviews arrangement at Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas
Calls for enhancing accommodation capacity to five thousand

JAMMU, Mar 27: Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Anshul Garg today convened a meeting with the senior officers of various departments to review the arrangements being put in place here at Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas for comfortable stay of pilgrims during Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2021.
The DC reviewed the status of the available facilities like power, drinking water, sanitation, transport, security, barricading, mobile toilets, clock rooms, langar arrangements, parking facility, PAS and related services.
The concerned officers apprised the Deputy Commissioner that Yatri Niwas has 13 halls with the capacity of catering to around 1500 yatris at a time with attached bathrooms and other facilities.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized upon the officers to increase the per day accommodation capacity from current two thousand to five thousand.
Regarding this, the DC was informed that a hall of 7000 sq/ft having a capacity of accommodating 500 yatris would be constructed at an estimated cost of 174 lakhs by the Tourism department.
In addition to this, the DC directed the officers of PWD (R&B) to develop a shed over 40 -Kanal adjoining vacant land to house additional three thousand yatris with all the basic facilities like power and water supply, mobile toilets, charging points etc.
Laying emphasis on sanitation, Anshul Garg directed the concerned officers to keep the surroundings of Yatri Niwas and other places identified for housing the pilgrims clean and green.
About the health-care facility, the DC was informed by the health department that adequate number of teams of doctors and other para-medical staff would be deputed at Yatri Niwas, which will perform their duties round the clock.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner along with other senior functionaries of various departments took round of the Yatri Niwas and reviewed the arrangements made by the administration for the convenience of the pilgrims.
He directed the concerned officers to gear up men and machinery to ensure adequate arrangements for the comfortable stay and onward journey of Yatris.
He asked the concerned departments to make sure that the pilgrims do not face any hardship on account of basic amenities.
Senior officers from PHE, PDD, Security, JMC, Health, Information and T ourism departments were present in the meeting.
