EARly Times Report

Srinagar, Mar 28: Dozens of far flung and remote villages, including those near the Line of Control (LoC) remained cut off as Kupwara-Machil and Bandipora-Gurez roads in north Kashmir are still shut due to fresh snowfall early this week.
However, all other roads, including Kupwara-Karnah, Tangdhar and Kupwara-Keran, reopened after accumulated snow was cleared . The roads were closed due to fresh snowfall early this week.
However, the road between border town of Machil with district headquarter Kupwara remained closed, a Police Control Room (PCR) official told UNI over phone on Sunday. However, he said a massive snow clearance operation is going on and the road is likely to put through on Monday.
Manwhile, traffic to the border town of Gurez, which is surrounded by Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) from three sides, remained suspended since January 1 due to the accumulation of snow at Razdan pass and adjoining areas. Though fresh snowfall early this week, snow clearance operation was going on war footing to put through the road, officials said.
