COVID-19 positive cases in JK reach 133454 following 442 new cases, two fresh deaths

SRINAGAR, Apr 5: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 442 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 33,454. Following two fresh deaths the death toll due to the virus reached 2,010.
Srinagar district reported 141 fresh cases including 27 travelers followed by Jammu district 97 cases, Baramulla district 47 cases, Reasi district 29 cases all travelers, Kupwara and Kulgam districts 21 cases each, Budgam district 19 cases, Udhampur district 14 cases, Bandipora district 11 cases, Anantnag district nine cases, Kathua district eight cases, Ganderbal and Poonch districts six cases each, Rajouri district five cases, Shopian district three cases, Pulwama and Samba districts two cases each and Kishtwar district one case. Two deaths were reported from Kulgam district.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 442 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 162from Jammu division and 280 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 33,454. Also two COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 241 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 60 from Jammu division and 181 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 33,454 positive cases, 4,154 are active positive, 1, 27,290 have recovered and 2,010 have died; 741 in Jammu division and 1,269 in Kashmir division.
Out of 62, 46,356 test results available, 61, 12,902 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 15, 47,565 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 53,701 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 4,154 in isolation and 1, 21,370in home surveillance. Besides, 13, 66,330 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 29,948 positive cases, 1,560 active positive, 27,914 recovered, 474 deaths; Baramulla has 9,230 positive cases, 618 active positive, 8,431 recovered, 181 deaths; Budgam has 8,417 positive cases, 313 active positive, 7,983 recovered, 121 deaths; Pulwama has 6,032 positive cases, 103 active positive, 5,837 recovered, 92 deaths; Kupwara has 5,878 positive cases, 115 active positive, 5,666 recovered, 97 deaths.
“Anantnag has 5,243 positive cases, 90 active positive, 5,057 recovered, 96 deaths; Bandipora has 4,819 positive cases, 73 active positive, 4,683 recovered, 63 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,751 positive cases, 53 active positive, 4,649 recovered, 49 deaths; Kulgam has 2,936 positive cases, 169 active positive, 2,711 recovered, 56 deaths and Shopian has 2,671 positive cases, 36 active positive, 2,595 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 26,293 positive cases, 706 active positive, 25,204 recovered, 383 deaths; Udhampur has 4,392 positive cases, 53 active positive, 4,281 recovered, 58 deaths; Rajouri has 3,917 positive cases, 33 active positive, 3,828 recovered, 56 deaths; Doda has 3,466 positive cases, 13 active positive, 3,389 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,401 positive cases, 82 active positive, 3,266 recovered, 53 deaths.
“Samba has 2,884 positive cases, 35 active positive, 2,808 recovered, 41 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,757 positive cases, 18 active positive, 2,717 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,559 positive cases, 25 active positive, 2,508 recovered, 26 deaths; Ramban has 2,165 positive cases, 24 active positive, 2,119 recovered, 22 deaths and Reasi has 1,695 positive cases, 35 active positive, 1,644 recovered, 16 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 33,454 positive cases in J&K, 13,809 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.
As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
