Jal Shakti Abhiyan: DYSSO Kishtwar hosts debate competition on water conservation

KISHTWAR, Apr 12: Department of Youth Services & Sports Kishtwar, under the guidance of District Development Commissioner, Ashok Sharma, today organized a debate competition on water conservation to promote Jal Shakti Abhiyan, (Catch The Rain) campaign among the school students.
The students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Govt Boys Higher Secondary School and BVM School took part in the competition.
The students spoke on the topic at length and made the participants aware regarding how to save water and the need for conserving it.
Speaking on the occasion, DYSSO, Kharati Lal Sharma said that with these awareness programmes, the department aims at to make people aware the importance of judicious use of water and its conservation to save the world from water crisis in the coming years.
The department has organized series of competitions of essay-writing, painting, and debate on the topic "Save water" across the district.
Students and employees of different zones took part in these events including zone Drabshalla, Inderwal, Kishtwar, Nagseni and Padder. Around 1259 students including staff members actively participated in these programmes.
A penal of Judges comprising Chander Shaker (PEL), Ram Saroup (PEM), Javed Sheikh (PET) and Suman Kant (PET) adjudged the participanting students.
Ahmed Umar Zarger class 10 student of GHSS Boys and Shewata Sharma class 12 GGHSS student shared the first position, while Tanees Ahmed Kripak class 10th student of GHSS Boys bagged 2nd position and 3rd position went to Vanshika Gupta class 12th student of GGHSS. After Pledge ceremony certificates, medals and refreshments were distributed among the students by the incharge, Shahnawaz Ahmed Qazi.
