DIPR organises Cycle Rally on day -5 of Special Event Series at Hiranagar

KATHUA, Apr 16: Under its Special Event series, Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) organised a Cycle Rally today - the 5th day of its week-long campaign under ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’ here at Hiranagar.
The Cycle Rally was organised by the District unit of Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) in association with Zonal Office of Department of Youth Sports and Services, Kathua to engage the youth in sports activities and instill the spirit of nationalism among them.
Chairman, Municipal Committee Hiranagar Adv Vijay Sharma who was the Chief Guest flagged off the Cycle Rally comprising over 35 students mainly NCC cadets of Government Higher Secondary School, Hiranagar and other schools of Hiranagar tehsil. The rally started from Sports Stadium Hiranagar culminate at Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College, Hiranagar.
While speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Adv Vijay Sharma appreciated the students for their active participation in such events dedicated to the contributions of Indian freedom fighters. He also hailed DIPR and Department of Youth Sports and Services for organising the events, which he said will help children to channelize their energies through sports activities. He also appealed to students to get inspiration from National Heroes who sacrificed their lives for pride of our motherland.
District Information Officer, Kathua Parshotam Dass said the Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) has initiated a week long campaign under ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’ to sensitize public about key issues such as do's and don'ts of covid-19, patriotism, besides educating people through cultural programmes on social menace like drug addiction, female foeticide etc
Rajiv Kumar of class 10th, Rohit Kumar of class 9th and Jaswant Kumar of Class 10th of GHSS Hiranagar were declared 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
The Chief Guest gave away the trophies to the winners and refreshment to all the participants.
Member MC Hiranagar Sanjay Sharma, Zonal Physical Education Officer, Hiranagar Yog Raj Sharma, ANO NCC Parmodh Kumar and staff of DIPR and Youth Sports and Services were also present.
