CBI arrests Sanitary Supervisor JMC for demanding, accepting bribe

JAMMU, Apr 16: In a significant development, a team of Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) arrested a Sanitary Supervisor of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) who was demanding bribe of Rs 5000 from a Safai Karamchari working under her through a contractor.
As per the details available with Early Times, Sanitary Supervisor JMC identified as Shezadi Gill was caught red handed accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 by the CBI sleuths. The CBI team had laid a trap after the complainant Safai Karamchari lodged a formal complaint with them that she was demanding bribe. On this case RC 6/2021 was registered by CBI at its Jammu office and further investigation was going on into the matter.
According to reports, searches in the JMC office as well as at the residence of the woman Sanitary officer located at Residency Road Jammu were also conducted by the CBI personnel.
CBI sources while confirming the arrest of the Sanitary Supervisor urged the people to come forward with complaints regarding the ongoing corruption in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Gill during preliminary questioning by the CBI reveals that she is collecting the money from the complainant and others of which the share of the same is being distributed among the senior officials as well.
CBI sources said that after the disclosure by the arrested employee the role of top officials in JMC has also come under scanner. CBI further says that the arrested officer had expelled the complainant from the job since he (complainant) has not paid him since last 10 months and demanded to get clear Rs 50000 pending amount @ Rs 5000/month before he is allowed to resume his duty.
It is pertinent to mention here that only a few days ago, CBI arrested a senior Passport official at Jammu while demanding and accepting the bribe from a complainant for renewal of his passport.
