Lawyers' delegation calls on CJ, raises several issues

JAMMU, Apr 16: A delegation of lawyers practicing in Jammu wing of J&K High Court and Subordinate Courts met the Chief Justice (CJ) of J&K High Court, Pankaj Mithal at Jammu.
The delegation comprised of H C Jalmeria (Convener Lawyers Action Committee), JA Kazmi, AK Sawhney, BS Jamwal, KM Bhatti, Subodh Singh Jamwal, Meharban Singh, Abrar Khan, Umesh Sharma, Gourab Sharma and Narinder Sharma highlighted various issues faced by the lawyers and the justice seeking public, the delegation also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Justice. Through the memorandum, the lawyers demanded physical hearings may be continued observing SOPs in all courts since virtual hearing is no alternative, addition of more infrastructure at Janipura Court Complex as there is over 600 kanals land. So idea of shifting of High Court from Janipura to Raika may be dropped, holding of J&K Bar Council elections, change in Court timings for six months in Summer Zone areas from 8 a.m to 1.30 p.m. as had been practice for decades and availability of stamp papers besides rasing several other issues.
After hearing the lawyers' delegation patiently, the Chief Justice assured serious consideration on the issues projected and early action.
